| At a time when other students their
age are typically youngest and have the fewest opportunities for
leadership, Tuxedo Park ninth graders rise to the responsibilities,
service, leadership, and honors reserved for the eldest. Many of
them have spent years looking up to ninth grade leaders and are
ready for their turn to lead and look after.
As captains of the Green and Gold Teams, student council officers,
leads in the plays and ensembles, soloists in concerts and recitals,
and interscholastic team captains and leaders, ninth graders know
that the rest of the student body looks up to them.
Every year, we see students blossom in their ninth grade year as
they strengthen their self knowledge through genuine achievements.
The confidence they gain during this year launches them into their
secondary schools with remarkable momentum.
Upon completion of their “senior” year, many Tuxedo
Park graduates reflect on the close relationships they established
with teachers. Having known the teachers for at least three years,
they cite the final year at Tuxedo Park as one of mutual respect,
and it is a characteristic they seek to replicate as they graduate
from our program.
