The Fine and Performing Arts are an integral part of the Tuxedo Park School experience for every child. Beginning in the Early Childhood Center and continuing through the Upper School Electives Program, all students take art and music classes, participate in assemblies and dramatic and musical presentations, have the opportunity to extend their experiences through private music lessons and after school Discovery Programs.
Students in grades kindergarten through six have three art and three music cycles of classes during the year in addition to the three week holiday concert preparation classes between Thanksgiving and the winter vacation. During a cycle, a student will have either three classes of art or three classes of music each week thereby allowing greater coordination with the classroom teachers.
The Arts and Electives courses in the Upper School meet two days a week for a trimester. Students take two Arts and Electives courses at a time. Course offerings include visual arts, music, drama, life skills, yearbook, and library.
