Tuxedo Park Adventure Camp: June 13-23, 2007
White Mountain Expedition: June 25-29, 2007
Tuxedo Park Summer Adventure Camp
The Tuxedo Park Adventure program is a day camp for TPS students entering grade 6 and older, with Tuxedo Park School as its home base. The week and a half long program focuses on educating campers and promoting exciting outdoor opportunities. Basic camp craft, hiking, first aid, and wilderness survival skills are introduced. Students develop and hone these skills within Tuxedo Park and the surrounding state parks of Sterling Forest, N.Y. and Ringwood, N.J. The first week ends with an on-campus overnight camping experience.
The second week finds campers applying their newly acquired skills as they head off-campus to local adventure destinations. Day trip options include hiking, rock climbing, swimming, and spelunking in New York and New Jersey state parks, and canoeing on the Delaware River.
The culmination of this eight day adventure is an off-campus excursion that will focus on highlighting all of the skills the campers have learned.
White Mountain Expedition
For veteran campers who successfully complete the Tuxedo Park Adventure Camp, the White Mountain Expedition will introduce participants to a more ambitious wilderness experience. This backpacking trip through the White Mountains of New Hampshire is open to TPS students entering 7th grade and older. Over the course of three nights and four days, the group will hike through some of the most scenic and challenging terrain in the East Coast as they test their newfound skills and confidence.
