Philosophy

The TPS uniform dress code sets a standard of neat, appropriate dress for school. Uniforms should be properly fitted, in good repair, and within code at all times.

It is the responsibility of the parents to send their children to school dressed within the guidelines and the spirit of our dress code regulations (see below). Failure to adhere to our school dress policy will result in disciplinary action at school. A pattern of dress code violations will require a conference with the appropriate division head.

Tuxedo Park School Dress Code
2007-2008

Primary School Dress Code
Grades K through 3

Boys

• Tan khaki pants or shorts (fall & spring terms only) (No corduroys, cargo pants, or jeans) Brown or black leather belt
• White oxford cloth button down shirt, long or short sleeved, white turtleneck or white knit polo shirt with collar
• V-neck pullover sweater or vest from Flynn and O’Hara
• Brown or black leather shoes (No hiking boots, clogs, sandals, or sneakers of any type)
• White crew socks (must cover the entire ankle)

Girls

• Plaid jumper from Flynn and O’Hara or chino skort from Land’s End (fall & spring terms only)
• Girls may wear tan khaki pants during the winter term, Thanksgiving through spring break (No corduroys, cargo pants, or jeans)
• White round collared blouse, long or short sleeved, white turtleneck, or white knit polo shirt with collar
• V-neck cardigan sweater or pullover vest from Flynn and O’Hara
• Brown or black leather shoes (No hiking boots or sneakers of any type, no clogs or sandals)
• White crew socks (must cover entire ankle), white, navy or green, tights or knee socks (no novelty socks)

Middle School Dress Code
Grades 4 through 6

Boys

• Tan khaki pants or shorts (fall & spring terms only) (No corduroys, cargo pants or jeans)
• Brown or black leather belt
• White button down oxford cloth shirt, long or short sleeved
• Conservative tie
• V-neck sweater or v-neck vest from Flynn and O’Hara
• Brown or black leather shoes (No hiking boots, clogs, sandals, or sneakers of any type)
• Navy, brown or black dress socks. White crew socks may be worn with khaki (socks must cover entire ankle).
• Sports uniform issued by school
• No earrings, necklaces, body piercings, unkempt hair, or colorful hair dyes

Girls

• Plaid skirt from Flynn and O’Hara hemmed no more than 2 inches above the knee or chino skort from Lands’ End (spring & fall terms)
• Girls may wear tan khaki pants during the winter term, Thanksgiving vacation through spring vacation (No corduroys, cargo pants, or jeans)
• White button down oxford blouse, long or short sleeve, white turtleneck, or white knit polo shirt with collar
• V-neck pullover sweater or v-neck sweater vest from Flynn and O’Hara
• Brown or black leather shoes (No heels higher than 1 inch, hiking boots, clogs, sandals, or sneakers of any type)
• White, navy or green, tights or knee socks (No white sports socks, no sheer hose or stockings, no novelty socks)
• Sports uniform issued by school
• No dangle earrings, necklaces, make-up, body piercings, unkempt hair, or colorful hair dyes

Upper School Dress Code
Grades 7 through 9

Boys

• Tan khaki pants (No corduroys, cargo pants, or jeans)
• Brown or black leather belt
• White button down oxford cloth shirt. No colorful, graphic, or lettered clothing may be worn under the uniform shirt
• Conservative tie
• Conservative single breasted navy blazer
• Brown or black leather shoes (No hiking boots, sneakers, heavy lug soles, clogs, or sandals)
• Navy, brown or black dress socks (No white sports socks)
• No earrings, body piercings , unkempt hair or colorful hair dyes

Grade 9 Boys Only

• Shirts may be any solid color or pinstripe (no black or metallic)

Girls

• Plaid skirt from Flynn and O’Hara hemmed no more than 2 inches above the knee
• Khaki pants (No corduroys, cargo pants, or jeans) during the winter term (Thanksgiving to spring vacation)
• White button down oxford cloth blouse or white polo shirt with collar, white turtlenecks in winter
• No colorful, graphic, or lettered clothing may be worn under the uniform blouse
• Conservative single breasted navy blazer
• Brown or black leather shoes (No heels higher than 1 inch, no hiking boots, sneakers, heavy lug soles, clogs or sandals)
• White, navy, or green knee socks or tights. No sports socks, sheer hose, stockings, or novelty socks
• No sweaters worn under blazers other than logo sweater/vest
• No dangle earrings, body piercings, unkempt hair or colorful hair dyes

Grade 9 Girls Only

• Blouses may be any solid color (no black or metallic)
• Girls may wear turtlenecks or polo shirts with a collar (No stripes or patterns)
• No colorful, graphic, or lettered clothing may be worn under the uniform blouse

Graduation Dress Code for Graduates

• Girls: White knee or tea length dress (no backless, transparent or slit up the thigh), white shoes
• Boys: Navy blazer, blue oxford cloth shirt, white trousers, school logo tie, and dress shoes
