The second grade curriculum includes language arts, math, social studies, science, physical education and the fine and performing arts. Students learn to write and write to learn through an immersion in valuable literature experiences. They respond to literature through writing, art, music, discussion, and drama. In math, the children learn concepts involving place value, geometry, and measurement leading to increased and new skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. A main focus of the social studies program is acquiring a sense of global awareness through literature, current events, and geography.
