The Pre-K science program rotates around the seasons and weather. We discuss how plants and animals are affected and what they do to survive. We also talk about how these changes affect people. We plant throughout the year and care for our classroom pets. Often, science explorations connect with our reading and math programs.
Cooking allows children the opportunity to mix and measure and to witness the changes that occur with temperature and ingredients. We have a water and sand table that is a constant area of science interest for the children. We also learn about the five senses.
The Pre-K also takes part in the school-wide science symposium each spring. Possible topics to share are the five senses, insects, and earthworms.
